Arsenal vs Newcastle United prediction

TheSportsRush brings Arsenal vs Newcastle United prediction, as Unai Emery aims to bring the Gunners’ league campaign back on track.

Unai Emery’s side has made a struggling start to the 2018/19 Premier League season. They lost their first two matches against top-six sides Manchester City and Chelsea, before their campaign slowly returned to track with two consecutive wins. Arsenal defeated West Ham on third game-week, and scraped a victory with a late Lacazette winner against Cardiff.

Newcastle United survived the Premier League season last year, but find themselves at 18th position in the league table after four games. They faced two tough oppositions in Chelsea and defending champions Manchester City, with their only point coming against the newly-promoted Cardiff. ‘The Toons’ were thoroughly outplayed by Maurizio Sarri’s side, as they conceded a staggering 81% ball possession, with Chelsea completing more than 1,000 passes in the match.

However, Arsenal have only scraped through to three points in their last match against Cardiff City. Unai Emery’s concerns in midfield and defence continue to persist, and Granit Xhaka’s struggles at the centre of the pitch is a big worry for the Spanish head-coach.

Prediction:

Newcastle might not have stepped up their game so far in the new season, but they’ve beaten Arsenal earlier this year at St. James’ Park. Benitez’s side came from behind to win the match, and the win guaranteed Newcastle’s survival in the Premier League.

The match, even though lost, was also significant Arsenal as their two forwards, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang played together for the first time. Things are different this time for Arsenal, as they make a trip to St. James’ Park with a new head-coach, and an experienced partnership in the offence.

The odds favour Arsenal to win the match, with 5/6, 17/20, and 9/20 offer from bet365, skybet and Coral respectively. Marathon Bet offer the highest (65/20) on Newcastle’s win, while most odds are in the region of 3/1 on their victory.
