During the second ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in Auckland, debutant New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson registered bowling figures of 6-1-19-1 in his first spell to play the exact type of role his team needed out of him.
Introduced into the attack by New Zealand captain Tom Latham as a first-change bowler in the fifth over, Jamieson made instant impact by dismissing India opening batsman Prithvi Shaw on the last ball of the over.
With the Indian batsman getting deceived by the swing on the delivery, he saw the ball passing between his bat and pad to hit the stumps. Having made early inroads, Jamieson’s celebration was evident of him enjoying his international debut.
Opening the batting with Mayank Agarwal (3), Shaw played well for his 24 (16) which included six fours. Chasing a 274-run target, India lost wickets at regular intervals to make life difficult for them at the Eden Park.
As far as Jamieson’s debut is concerned, the 25-year old player scored 25* (24) including a four and two sixes in the first innings to give optimum support to veteran batsman Ross Taylor (76*) in an unbeaten 76-run partnership for the seventh wicket.
After India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and invited New Zealand in to bat, the hosts scored 273/8 in 50 overs. Having scored 79 (79) with the help of of eight fours and three sixes, opening batsman Martin Guptill top-scored for New Zealand. With bowling figures of 10-0-58-3, India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of their bowlers.

#PrithviShaw has totally forgotten to rotate strike and he wants to hit every balls to boundaries..That’s why He gets out early. @PrithviShaw
Please don’t do this mistake again in future 🙌#NZvsIND— Joshua (@JoshJey16) February 8, 2020
Too early, but glimpses of @virendersehwag and @ImRo45 in #PrithviShaw. Just needs to focus on staying longer in the middle of the ground, automatic choice for #1 and brightest future among the younger lot. Pure pleasure to watch him play. #NZvIND #BCCI
