With the league stage encounters behind us now, Major League Soccer has shifted to the all important first round of qualifiers. After what was a gruelling and arduous set of encounters in the Western and Eastern Conferences, we were left with 16 teams in the league, sides who are going at loggerheads in a bid to make it to the quarter-finals.
And two sides who are involved in that clamour are today’s opponents Real Salt Lake and Portland Timbers, sides who are familiar faces with each other with the two having met previously in the Western Conference as well. The first of two matches between the sides sees Real Salt Lake play at home by virtue of finishing in third place in the Western Conference, a position they sealed after finishing on 56 points with a Decider Day 1-0 win over the Whitecaps.

Elsewhere, for Portland Timbers, the journey to make it this far wasn’t a smooth road by any stretch. The side just about managed to scrape and scram their way to a spot in the top 7 of the Western Conference by drawing three of their final five matches along with getting a critical 3-1 win over San Jose Earthquakes to end in sixth place in the conference.
As they get ready to clash heads with Real Salt Lake today, the side will be looking to emulate the same determination, resistance, reslliance and resolve which saw them hang onto the barest of margins to find themselves plying their skill set in this match. Although Real Salt Lake look the overwhelming favourites for this clash, Portland Timbers have shown that they are more than capable of squirming their way to a successful result which makes this match an intriguing affair.

PT vs RSLC Dream11 Goal-Keeper
With Anitenlle out for Portland Timbers today given his current injury, the side will be reposing faith in Steve Clark, someone who has entrusted the ardent faith placed in him by his side. One of the best goal-keepers in the league, he has avidly put in quirky displays to rebuff his side’s defensive setup to see us opt for the shot stopper today.
PT vs RSLC Dream11 Defenders
Elsewhere after having let in just the 41 goals in their conference encounters, we have a duo come into our side from the home side in the form of both their fullbacks, Donny Toia and Aaron Herrera. We are also getting in CB Justen Glad from the outfit with Portland Timbers having kept just the one cleansheet in their previous five matches, making Real Salt Lake way the likelier side to imbed in place a shut down today.
PT vs RSLC Dream11 Midfielders
We begin with Real Salt Lake City’s top goal scorer Albert Rusnak for this encounter. The CAM was an integral face of his side’s consummate success, a player who ended up crafting a colossal 28 gaols with the 5 assists to go with them to ensure his side were on an ever upward trajectory in the league.
Rightwinger Jefferson Savarino comes in as well for us with him having given adequate company to Rusnak with his 27 goals, seeing the two become a daunting partnership to send defences packing with disdain. Elsewhere from the opposition we are getting in Sebastian Blanco and CDM Diego Chara, two players who’ll be tasked with holding fort for the side in different segments of their side today.
PT vs RSLC Dream11 Strikers
If Portland Timbers are going to have any chance of coming out with a win today, they’ll be requiring their striker Jeremy Ebobisse to emulate the souring displays which have seen him become such a handful and pesky player for defenders. He’s amassed 25 goals, the side’s leading goal scorer and a name they have been able to rely on to take them to winning way.
Elsewhere from the opposition we are choosing Corey Baird and Damir Kreilach with the side set to come out with a gameplan which revolves around trying to move as forward up the park on as many occasions as plausible.
Captain And Vice-Captain
Rusnak is our captain for this clash whilst we are choosing Savarino as our vice-captain.
