The newly appointed Indian Cricket Team coach Ravi Shastri is not shying away from the idea of roping in senior cricket consultants like Rahul Dravid from time to time.

Shastri’s first assignment will be India’s tour to Sri Lanka, where they will play three Tests, five One-day Internationals and a Twenty20 International.

The newly appointed coach had said that he would welcome ideas and suggestions that only would further improve his side. On asked about this, he said “I’m very clear about that. Rahul can bring great advantages and we all know that.

If he can decide on how he can divide his time and let the BCCI know when he can be available, I am all for it,”.

The “Wall of Indian Cricket”, Dravid is currently the Under-19 as well as the India ‘A’ head coach.

The Cricket Advisory Committee of the BCCI consisting of Sachin Tendulkar,Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman had appointed Rahul Dravid as the consultant for overseas tours and the swing king Zaheer Khan was also named as by the CAC as a bowling consultant.

Though, it remains to be seen whether Dravid would really be able to take time out of his hectic schedule and accept this additional role.

A BCCI official upon asking, quoted “Since Dravid is also the coach of India A and Under-19 teams, it would be difficult for him to travel for longer periods with the senior team.

India colts [U19 team] tour regularly for various competitions, so Dravid appears more comfortable attending training sessions in India.”
