Ravichandran Ashwin bowls yet again with his peculiar action; gets a wicket on this occasion in his second match of TNPL 2019

India’s premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has never feared or shied from pulling out his different sets of bowling variations from the casket. He has in fact, credited his different variations apart from his stock delivery as a major reason for his success as an International cricketer so far.

With the commencement of the fourth season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2019, the 32-year-old had in the very first match, as the skipper of his side- Dindigul Dragons came up with yet another variation, but with a strange/peculiar bowling action, which left almost everyone scratching their heads.

Come again, in his second match, this time versus the defending champions Madurai Panthers, Ashwin came up with yet another strange action during the final over of the innings.

Ashwin gets a wicket with the new action

It all happened during the last over of the match. Ashwin led- Dindigul Dragons almost had their second successive match of the season within their pocket, with 32 runs to defend in the last over. With the Madurai Panther seven wickets down, Ashwin introduced himself into the attack.

Ashwin struck off the first ball by removing the dangerous Abhishek Tanwar and then it was about going through the motions for both the teams. However, with two balls to go, the bowler tried his mystery action which he did in the first game as well, but with a certain twist this time around.

Ashwin had his right hand hiding behind his back, and came reached towards his delivery stride with a small run-up akin a medium pace bowler.

He then, without using his left arm, released a loopy, extremely flighted delivery towards the batsman. The batsman got enticed towards the bait and went in for the almighty heave towards the long-on fence, only to be caught at the fence.
