Former Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho has explained how Manchester United can secure an unlikely win at Camp Nou.
Barcelona will host Manchester United in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday night.
The Catalan side is currently ahead in the side, albeit with just a goal’s difference. With Manchester United securing a dramatic turnaround in the round-of-16 against PSG earlier this season, a possibility of another comeback cannot be ruled out.
And former Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho acknowledges Manchester United’s threat. While he believes that Barcelona are favourites of the game, Solskjaer’s side has the capability to inflict an upset.
Here’s what Solskjaer said:
Ronaldinho on Manchester United:
The Barcelona legend has stated that the first goal would be key in the tie between Barcelona and United. Luke Shaw’s own goal separates the two sides at the moment, and Ronaldinho has stated that the side to score the first goal is likely to dictate the terms throughout the game.
“The truth is that Barcelona should have finished the game in Manchester – but at just 1-0 Manchester United will still believe that are in this tie,” Ronaldinho said.
“With the way that Barcelona have been playing and the amount of goals they have been scoring, I do expect them to progress.”
Ronaldinho further stated that Barcelona should win the tie comfortably. “I see them even winning comfortably in Barcelona. It will all be on the first goal,” the Brazilian said.
“If Barcelona score it then it will be a long evening for Manchester United.
“But if they (United) can score the first goal then it’s going to make the stadium nervous – and you never know what can happen then.”
Barcelona will aim to return to winning ways after they were held to a goalless draw by the bottom-placed Huesca. Manchester United, meanwhile, are struggling with form and face an uphill task for the top-4 race in the Premier League. A win against Barcelona would hand them a huge boost as the season reaches its business end.
