RR playoff chances

RR playoff chances: The Sportsrush presents before you Rajasthan Royals’ prospects of qualifying for IPL 2019 playoffs.

Rajasthan Royals deserve accolades for still being alive in the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League. While they are merely alive, it doesn’t mean that they will get to qualify for the playoffs to begin on May 7. With five wins in 12 matches, Rajasthan are currently at No. 7 in the points table.

What has hurt the franchise most this season is them winning one out of their first six matches. Had they yielded more favourable results in the first half of the season, it would have been a different ball game for them at this moment.

Winning four out of their next six matches have definitely brought them back in IPL 2019. That being said, Royals now face a must-win scenario where they have to win both their upcoming matches in a bid to qualify for the playoffs.

Another vital facet for RR at the moment is Net Run Rate. Most likely to be among multiple teams with 14 points, NRR will be the criteria which will differentiate teams later this week.

RR playoff chances

Rajasthan Royals are scheduled to face Royal Challengers Bangalore tonight at Bengaluru. Playing against the only team which is behind RR in the points table, the visitors will have to register a victory to remain in contention.

What Royals will also be looking at is the fact that Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders should not win more than one match out of their upcoming two matches. If Hyderabad will win even one match, things will go down to the Net Run Rate of both (Sunrisers and Royals) the teams.

If Royals lose against RCB tonight, they will be in a similar position like them. While Royals’ chances of qualifying will be reduced significantly, they will be hoping for RCB to win their last match against Sunrisers and Mumbai Indians to win both their matches against Sunrisers and Kolkata Knight Riders.

If that happens, RR will be at 12 points alongside SRH and RCB. The team with the highest run rate will make it to the playoffs as the fourth team.
