Sachin Tendulkar hits glorious shot at Wankhede stadium against Brian Lara's West Indies' legends

Sachin Tendulkar hits a glorious shot at the Wankhede stadium while taking upon Brian Lara’s West Indies team of legends in a T20 game.

Sachin Tendulkar took retirement around 7 years ago, but hardly any player has been able to replicate his kind of flair. The former Indian batsman once again took on the field in the Unacademy Road Safety World Series.

The first match of the tournament was between Sachin Tendulkar-led India Legends and Brian Lara-led West Indies Legends at the Wankhede stadium.

Seeing Sachin playing after so long didn’t seem that he has been retired since the last 7 years, the execution of the shots was beyond perfection.

During the game, Sachin edged a ball, while squatting down to send it past the slips to add 4 runs to his team’s tally. This shot of his triggered a reaction on social media, as fans once again relived Sachin’s glorious innings.

This is for the first time Tendulkar appeared to play a game at the Wankhede stadium and second time on any pitch ever since his retirement on November 13, 2013.

Last time, Sachin appeared on a cricket pitch to bat was during the Bushfire Bash charity game, where he just played an over between the breaks and wasn’t officially participating as a player.

This time also Sachin has graced the cricket pitch for a social cause as it will create awareness about road safety in a country where one person gets killed in road mishap every four minutes.

Before the match, the Indian team had had an extensive practice session at the CCI on Friday. The Indian team will next face the Sri Lankan contingent in the tournament on 10th March at the DY Patil stadium.

Followed by games against South Africa and Australia on 14th March and 20th March respectively, and the final will be played on 22nd March at the Brabourne Stadium.
