Santi Cazorla goal for Villareal

Santi Cazorla goal for Villareal: Former Arsenal midfielder scored a terrific goal as he led Villareal’s comeback in the Copa Del Rey.

Santi Cazorla’s extraordinary comeback from the horrific injury during his time at Arsenal continues as he scored the first goal to lead Villareal’s comeback in the knock-out competition.

Cazorla suffered an Achilles injury during Arsenal’s Champions League game against Ludogrets, but the Spanish midfielder suffered with multiple skin injuries which eventually ended his Arsenal career.

After failing to make a single appearance in the 2017/18 season, Cazorla left Arsenal to return to his former club Villareal.

He scored in his first goal for the club on his return to football last night, in the Copa del Rey encounter against the second division side UD Almeria.

The midfielder rolled back the years as he took on two defenders, before skipping past them to launch a rocket towards the goal.

Cazorla scored the first of three goals as Villareal made a comeback. However, Almeria pulled two goals to bring the scoreline level in the final moments of the match.

Here is the goal:

The Spanish midfielder’s return to football has been miraculous itself, as Cazorla suffered a series of horrific injuries after the game against Ludogrets. Arsenal’s the-then manager, Arsene Wenger, described Cazorla’s injuries as the ‘worst he had ever seen.’

Cazorla has the option of extending his contract with Villareal at the end of the current season, and the midfielder is fairly positive about the possibility. “I don’t feel too bad; I’m optimistic,” he told The Guardian during an interview in September.

However, Cazorla insisted that he is taking one game at a time. “Just play the next game, then try to play the next,” the Spanish midfielder said.

The Arsenal fans, meanwhile, were happy to see Cazorla score last night.

What next?

Villareal, however, are struggling in the league, as the side is currently 17th in the league. The Spanish side will meet the 7th-placed Levante this weekend, before meeting Rapid Wien in the Europa League next week.

The side’s campaign in the European competition is relatively convincing as Villareal are 2nd and unbeaten so far.
