Sergio Aguero injury: Three potential replacements for Manchester City striker in FPL Game week 9

Sergio Aguero injury: Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has revealed that Sergio Aguero has been carrying an injury problem and has not been training with his club.

Sergio Aguero has been on a roll in the ongoing season of the Premier League. The Manchester City striker has so far scored 8 goals in 8 matches so far and has gathered a whopping 61 points in Fantasy Premier League.

Despite not being at his best against Everton and Wolverhampton, he has the highest points amongst all strikers employed in the Premier League and has been picked by more than a quarter of people playing in the Fantasy Premier League.

However, it has now come to light that the Argentine is not at his 100%. Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni revealed that the reason he did not select Sergio Aguero was because he was suffering from an injury; one that has kept away from training with his club as well.

With this update in the open now, it is being speculated whether he will take part in the match against Crystal Palace next weekend when the Premier League kicks off once again after the international break. However, there are still a few substitutes for the prolific scorer should he miss out on the action at Selhurst Park.

Here are three replacements for Sergio Aguero for Premier League game week 9.

#3) Teemu Pukki (Norwich City)

Price: £7.1

Total FPL Points: 54

Bonus Points: 9

Games: 8

Goals: 6

Assists: 2

Newly promoted club Norwich City have ridden the storm of the English top flight on the back of Teemu Pukki. The forward has been extremely prolific for the Canaries and could provide the same ammunition to any team that picks him in their side.

Like Aguero though he has had a quite couple of weeks. However, considering he comes at just a little over half of what Aguero costs, he will leave you with quite the budget to strengthen other areas of your team that need work.

For instance, swapping Pukki for Aguero will leave you with £5,1. If you sell another of your player worth about 7 that you don’t deem fit for your team, then that leaves you with enough to bring in the likes of De Bruyne, Salah, Mane and Son!

#2) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal)

Price: £11.1

Total FPL Points: 55

Bonus Points: 10

Games: 8

Goals: 7

Assists: 1

Despite Arsenal being made fun off so much in recent weeks, they find themselves at no.3 in the table currently and much of it has to do with Aubameyang’s form. The Gabonese striker has singlehandedly carried Arsenal so far and looks good to so for a good while longer.

He costs a bit more than Pukki but with his ability to consistently find the back of the net without needing much assistance from his teammates means that you’re guaranteed to garner points for you in a manner that will not allow you to miss Aguero from your side.

It also helps that Arsenal play easy opponents in the coming week. Aubameyang is a good player overall but he is much more terrifying when facing mid to low tier clubs. Which means that there is a good chance that the Arsenal forward may prove to be an excellent investment.

#1) Tammy Abraham (Chelsea)

Price: £7.7

Total FPL Points: 54

Bonus Points: 11

Games: 8

Goals: 8

Assists: 0

Tammy Abraham has undoubtedly been Chelsea’s find of the season. He’s only 8 games in and has already notched 8 for the Blues already (The same number of goals as Aguero). He has put behind the disappointment of the UEFA Super Cup to steady Chelsea’s ship in the Premier League under Frank Lampard.

With his price being near about the same with Pukki, he is a much more cost-effective purchase than Aubameyang, Tammy Abraham also comes with all the advantages one would have over picking Pukki. However, the fact that Abraham plays for a far superior team means that he will always have more chances of scoring than Pukki has with Norwich.

Abraham also has the advantage of playing relatively easier opponents in the coming weeks. Chelsea will face Newcastle United, Burnley, Watford and Crystal Palace in the next 28 days. In comparison Norwich will face a plucky Bournemouth and a wounded Manchester United in the next fortnight.
