Seven Atletico Madrid players trackback in same wavelength to defend a counter-attack

Seven Atletico Madrid players trackback to prove their teamwork against Lokomotiv Moscow.

Atletico Madrid had a tough trip down to Lokomotiv Moscow on Tuesday night. The Los Rojiblancos new signings have shown glimpses in their early stages under Diego Simeone, but it has been inconsistent displays until date.

Despite not staying the same throughout, they won the game 2-0 in the Russian capital. Joao Felix scored a good goal by dribbling past two to three players before dispatching a rebound. As for the second goal, it was rounded off by Thomas Partey, who scored a tap-in to guarantee three points.

There’s no doubt that Diego Simeone approaches games in his manner; liking to defend and hit opponents on the counter-attacks. It hasn’t changed since he has taken over the club, where he has been successful and admired for his past meal. Additionally, he wants his players to spend every ounce of energy to see out games.

This was inevitable during a moment against Lokomotiv Moscow.

The visitors lost the ball in a set-piece situation and Lokomotiv took whole control of the ball to take it forward through blistering pace. However, the Spanish side tracked back and cut down the threat.

As many as seven players tracked back in a stupendous fashion to neglect the hosts, who had only one in their opponents half. The ball was played across the field to find a Lokomotiv Moscow attacker, but it didn’t have much effect as every single Atletico Madrid player did their bit to gain a clean sheet at the end of the day.

Atletico Madrid are level on points with Juventus after two games in the Champions League group stages.
