Shahid Afridi on Virat Kohli's captaincy

Shahid Afridi on Virat Kohli’s captaincy: Former Pakistan captain said that the Indian captain needs to improve his captaincy.

There is no hiding to the fact that India captain Virat Kohli is arguably the best batsman in the modern contemporary game. The 30-year old cricketer has dominated the game across conditions and oppositions to the extent that he is the current holder of many batting records.

Going at the pace that he is going, Kohli looks all set to overtake many of the greats of the game.

Despite achieving all this in his decade-long career, Kohli still faces criticism regarding his style of play. While not many people consider speaking against his batting, a lot of them do so on his captaincy.

Going by numbers, India’s performance under Kohli shouldn’t be criticized. Having said that, there still are a few areas where he would be looking to improve, chiefly as a captain outside the sub-continent.

Among one of the former international cricketers who has been vocal regarding Kohli’s captaincy is former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi. In an interview with Times Now, Afridi opined regarding Kohli’s captaincy.

“Virat Kohli is one of my favourite players but he needs to improve as a captain,” Afridi was quoted by Times Now. On being asked about the ongoing India’s tour of Australia, Afridi batted for India’s chances to stage a victory down under.

“India-Australia series is going to be a very exciting contest and this Indian team has what it takes to beat Australia in Australia but the team needs to play together,” he added.

Having retired from international cricket, 38-year old Afridi is often spotted playing cricket in several T20 leagues around the world. Currently, he is leading Pakhtoons in the the progressing T10 League.
