Sir Alex Ferguson is said to take the hot seat for the 1999 Champions League finals replay.

Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly said to take over the Red Devils side as their boss when they play the 1999 Champions League final replay.

Mirror claimed that Manchester United are trying to play the legends game on May 26 which will mark the 20 year anniversary of that famous night.

Recapping the game of 1999 saw Bayern’s forward Mario Basler take the lead inside ten minutes into the game, but that goal was totally undone when Teddy Sheringham scored the equalizer in the 91st minute, before current Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer found the back of the net to lead right in the death to lift the Champions League.

It was followed by the success in the Premier League and the FA Cup to make lift the treble.

Should Sir Alex Ferguson’s health permit, he will take the hot seat for the Manchester United camp who were all involved in the game.

The Scottish great suffered a brain hemorrhage last summer, and he has recovered slowly to take part in Manchester United’s training these days.

Sir Alex Ferguson managed Manchester United between 1986 and 2013. The Scottish International took over the club and made them great again with utter domination by lifting more than ten Premier Leagues, 2 Champions Leagues, and nine domestic cup trophies.

It was always going to be tough for the Red Devils to replace him who saw David Moyes as his successor. But, the former Everton manager could not last more than ten months with the club after being forced out due to poor results.

Louis Van Gaal was the next manager, but apart from the FA Cup they never looked like challenging for the Premier League. His assistant at Barcelona Jose Mourino was the next man at the helm.

He did have a successful first season by winning the League Cup and Europa League, but the trophyless second season and a disastrous start to the third season ended his road for him with the Red Devils.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as the manager in mid-December and has reinstalled the faith by winning all the five games in the hot seat. He is currently learning under Sir Alex Ferguson who was the mentor when he was a player at Old Trafford.
