SL vs NZ Dream11 Team Prediction, Probable Playing 11, Toss Prediction And Pitch Report for 1st Test

SL vs NZ Dream11 Team Prediction: The Sportsrush helps you to make Best SL vs NZ Dream11 team for the first Test at Galle.

The first Test of New Zealand’s tour of Sri Lanka will be played at Galle tomorrow. The series will commence the sport for both the teams after the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

The Test format will allow both the teams to leave behind their disappointment of the World Cup to begin a new journey. The primary reason behind a major chunk of the visiting team looking forward to this series is the fact that they haven’t played a Test in Sri Lanka.

Out of the 15 players named for the two-Test series, only captain Kane Williamson, veteran batsman Ross Taylor, fast bowling duo of Trent Boult and Tim Southee and leg-spinner Todd Astle have played a Test in Sri Lanka. Another fast bowler in Neil Wagner had traveled with the team back in 2012 but didn’t get to play either of the two Tests.

Coming on the back of whitewashing South Africa in South Africa earlier this year, Sri Lanka would be looking to continue the momentum in familiar conditions back home.

Pitch conditions and Toss

The pitch at the Galle International Stadium is likely to favour the bowlers in the first Test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand. An average run rate of 3.09 signifies that batsmen might get swift runs but not for much long.

In the 32 Test matches played at the venue, 26 have seen yielding a result. Considering such an impressive run rate, expect the same to happen in later in the week as well. While the climate will remain cloudy on Day 1, it might just affect the match in patches.

Dream11 Picks for SL vs NZ 1st Test

Wicket-keepers for SL vs NZ Dream11

I have included wicket-keepers from both the teams for this match. Sri Lanka’s Niroshan Dickwella and New Zealand’s BJ Watling are both adept wicket-keepers and useful batsmen. I am backing them to win points for me across departments.

In six Test against Sri Lanka, Watling has scored 271 runs at an average of 45.16 and a strike rate of 43.15 including one century.

Batsmen for SL vs NZ Dream11

I have selected both the captains in Sri Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson for this match. Easily among their best batsmen, expect both Karunaratne and Williamson to be among the runs in this match.

My other two batsmen for this comprise of the two most experienced batsmen from both Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Angelo Mathews, who didn’t take in the series against South Africa, will resume duties in this series. My last batsman for this match is New Zealand’s Ross Taylor.

All-rounders for SL vs NZ Dream11

My Dream11 fantasy team for this match consists of an all-rounder from each side. Citing the conditions in mind, I have included spin-bowling all-rounders who are most likely to bat at No. 6 for their respective teams. The two all-rounders are Sri Lanka’s Dhananjaya de Silva and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner.

Bowlers for SL vs NZ Dream11

In addition to the aforementioned spin-bowling all-rounders, I have also included a couple of specialist Sri Lankan spinners in off-spinner Akila Dananajaya and left-arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya. Just in case Sri Lanka opt to play Lakshan Sandakan ahead of Embuldeniya, be alert during the toss and make the change. Both the spinners will cost you the same credits.

The reason why I haven’t picked a visiting spinner is because of ambiguity regarding who will play among the three of them. Instead, I have selected New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult as the only specialist fast bowler in my team. In eight Tests against Sri Lanka, Boult has dismissed 37 batsman at an average of 22.54, an economy rate of 2.66 and a strike rate of 50.8.
