Sniffer Dog ‘Dhoni’ all set to call it quits after Ind vs SL clash in Mohali

Sniffer dog so-called detection dog is all set to retire in PCA Stadium, Mohali on December 13 where India vs Sri Lanka ODI clash in Mohali. The white Labrador’s name is Dhoni and has served for close to 10 years for Mohali district police, it will retire from the service after the second fixture.

India are currently involved in the third of the three-match Test series against Sri Lanka. Post that, India will play three ODIs and three T20Is against Sri Lanka. Along with Dhoni, John and Preeti are the two dogs which will retire from its services.

Amrik Singh who is in-charge of the dog squad stressed the fact that how Dhoni dog was efficient during the World Cup in 2011. He added further saying that Dhoni used to help the police in inspecting the stadium during the international matches.

“Dhoni used to assist us in checking at PCA stadium during the international matches. During the world cup semifinal in 2011 between India and Pakistan, when the Prime Ministers of both the countries came to the city, Dhoni was working with us,” he said according to Indian Express.

Apart from taking naps, Dhoni dog sleeps six to seven hours a day. Amrik Singh told that sniffer dog is a specialist in spotting out the explosives and it is the quickest when it comes to any detective activities.

Dhoni dog was also present during India vs Pakistan game in 2011. After serving for a decade, the detective dog deserves something special and so farewell ceremony will be arranged for him.

“He likes to sleep six to seven hours a day. He sleeps in the daytime. He is a specialist in sniffing explosives. He is the quickest of the dogs we have when it comes to do any search operations. We are going to miss him. He has been a great asset for us,” Amrik Singh added in praise of Dhoni.
