South Africa vs India: Will Dale Steyn and Hashim Amla play vs India during their World Cup opening match?

Will Dale Steyn and Hashim Amla play vs India: The senior South African pair is suffering from injuries ahead of their third match.

South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn and opening batsman Hashim Amla’s fitness status has become of vital importance to their team. Having lost the first two matches of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, South Africa need their premier players to take the field against India at Southampton on Wednesday.

While Steyn succumbed to a shoulder injury before the tournament started, Amla was hit on the head by a Jofra Archer bouncer during the tournament opener at The Oval. It was the same reason why Amla didn’t take part in South Africa’s second match against Bangladesh yesterday.

Will Dale Steyn and Hashim Amla play vs India:

In what was a rest day for the South African team, both the senior cricketers were seen sweating it out at The Ageas Bowl. Playing on one of the pitches in the middle, Steyn bowled to Amla in the presence of South Africa coach Otis Gibson and some other members of South Africa’s support staff.

A video of the same has been uploaded on the official Twitter account of ESPNcricinfo. Given the queries on both the cricketers, the video has already started to do the rounds on the same platform.

It is worth mentioning that there is no official information on whether the duo will take part against India or not. Going by the development the duo is making, there are chances of both Steyn and Amla taking field on June 5.

With fast bowler Lungi Ngidi also injuring himself against Bangladesh yesterday, Steyn’s role becomes all the more important now.
