“Team India opener Shikhar Dhawan has requested to be released from the team for the first three ODIs of the Paytm Australia tour of India, 2017 to attend to his wife, who is unwell,” read a BCCI statement.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has decided not to name any replacement for Mr Dhawan in Indian Cricket Team,” the statement further added.

Earlier, Virat Kohli quoted in the press conference that Ajinkya Rahane will serve India as the third opener in the limited overs cricket while KL Rahul will continue to be played in the middle-order.

However, shifting of KL Rahul to the opening slot is also on the cards who accumulated a decent tally at the opening position.

However, It is reported that the selection committee is not going to name any replacement for Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane who is the third opener in the squad.

The southpaw was in the fine form and it is a huge blow for the hosts before the series. Dhawan also didn’t feature in the last One Dayer and T20 against Sri Lanka as well.
