Sterling to Real Madrid

Sterling to Real Madrid: The Los Blancos are eyeing a move for Manchester City star Raheem Sterling.

The defending champions of Europe have struggled ever since the beginning of the new season. Real Madrid is yet to seemingly recover from the departure of Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo. The injury crisis has further worsened the situation for Julen Lopetegui.

Real Madrid is currently on a four-match goalless run across all competitions this season. The club lost their first match in the Champions League in 30 games against CSKA Moscow last week. Later, in the La Liga, they conceded the only goal of the match in injury time against Deportivo Alaves.

The speculation over Julen Lopetegui’s future at the club has begun, and Florentino Perez has been urged to make some signings by the Real Madrid fans. The club oversaw the departure of Danilo, Morata, Ronaldo, and Kovacic in the last two years. In return, Real Madrid’s only significant signings were Courtois, Mariano, and Odriozola.

However, Bleacher Report now claims that Real Madrid are tracking Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.

Raheem Sterling to Real Madrid:

Sterling has been a key part of Manchester City squad ever since joining the Blues in 2015 from Liverpool.

The English international played a major role in City’s record-breaking season in 2017/18, when Guardiola’s side became the first in the Premier League history to reach 100 points.

Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones now suggests that Real Madrid is keeping tabs on Sterling’s situation at City.

The English winger is yet to sign a new contract at Manchester City, and is reportedly nowhere close to agreeing on a new deal at the moment.

Kevin de Bruyne and Sergio Aguero have signed long-term deals with City recently, and so did the manager Pep Guardiola. The Spanish manager insisted that they would want to keep Sterling, but admitted that there can be disagreements over contractual matters.

“We’ll do our effort to make him feel we count on him,” said Guardiola.

“And we count on him. We arrived after a difficult season [two years ago] and I told him I want to help him and would like him to be happy.

“In the end, the agents may not have agreements and that may not happen. But he knows and his agent knows we like him and want him a lot.”
