Barisic was incredibly lucky not to have been struck with a glass bottle that was aimed at him by unruly fans. The Rangers players were also forced to dodge several objects thrown at them while Gerrard praised his players for keeping their cool.
‘Bottles, lighters and all kind of objects’ Gerrard replied when asked what was thrown at his players. ‘It’s not my business. It’s down to Hibs to deal with that.
‘But we don’t want to see that in any stadium. We want players to be safe, want fans to be safe.’
The former England international then spoke about the tackle and explained the reason behind his outburst.
“The staff tried to defend a tackle like that. You can’t defend that. We all understand that there are bad tackles. I’ve done a few myself,” he told BT Sport.
“Hibs couldn’t cope with our intensity and quality.”
“We’re used to the pressure, we’re not surprised.”

“There is no problem with that but you can’t defend that. So obviously our emotions are running high but I think when it all cools down both benches maybe have to have a look at their behaviour.
“I’ll certainly be speaking to my staff on that front. But we were disappointed with their reaction trying to defend that because it’s a straight red. There’s no two ways about it.”
