Steven Gerrard's rant

Steven Gerrard’s rant: The Rangers manager was not happy with his side’s performance after 2-1 win over St Johnstone.

The Rangers manager has had a fair share of viral incidents over the course of his managerial tenure at Rangers.

With a 2-1 win over St Johnstone, Rangers have climbed up to 2nd position in the Scottish Premiership, and remain only a point behind Celtic.

However, Steven Gerrard was unsatisfied with his side’s performance. Rangers were 1-0 down at halftime, and Gerrard stated that he gave a brutally ‘honest’ opinion about what he thought of the performance in the dressing room.

The side, however, made a strong comeback as forward Alfredo Morelos continued on his stunning form this season, scoring a brace for Rangers. Morelos has now scored 11 goals in the league, and 19 across all competitions this season.

This is what Gerrard had to say:

Steven Gerrard’s rant:

The Rangers manager lashed out at his side for their disappointing display in the first half. “That’s not a Rangers team or showing in that first half,” Gerrard said.

The players were booed by their own supporters at halftime, and Steven Gerrard agreed with their sentiments. “They were quite within their rights to boo even louder because that wasn’t acceptable,” he said.

However, the fans reacted angrily to a line from the interview, which, according to them, was disrespectful to St Johnstone.

“We shouldn’t have to work that hard to win at places like this, with all due respect,” Gerrard told BT Sports.

While many praised the former Liverpool man for his honest assessment of the game, many took offence for his arrogance.

Following the outrage from fans, Gerrard apologized to St Johnstone, and insisted that the comments were taken the ‘wrong way.’

“Some of my quotes were taking the wrong way, I have the utmost respect for St Johnstone and Tommy Wright, they were by far the better team yesterday in the first half,” he said.
