Neymar/Mbappe to Real Madrid

Neymar/Mbappe to Real Madrid: The Spanish giants are interested in the signature of one of PSG’s two superstars, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Real Madrid have had an eventful season after the departure of Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer. A lack of transfer activity eventually led to a poor start for the Los Blancos in the season, and the absence of Ronaldo was clearly felt when Real broke the record of their worst goalless run in history.

Their season hit rock-bottom with a 5-1 thrashing against Real Madrid, after which the club parted ways with Julen Lopetegui after just 14 games in-charge.

Santiago Solari was appointed as the new manager, and after a series of good results, he was offered a permanent contract until 2021. However, Real Madrid continues to face gaping holes in their offence, which has been a problem since the departure of Ronaldo.

Benzema’s consistency and injury issues to Gareth Bale and Isco have hindered Real Madrid’s progress. And so, the club is set to enter the transfer market.

Neymar/Mbappe to Real Madrid:

It has been reported by Spanish media outlet AS that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for the one of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. Both the stars currently play for Paris Saint Germain, along with striker Edinson Cavani.

Paris Saint Germain are currently subject to an investigation by UEFA over a breach of Financial Fairplay Regulations. (FFP) The French champions spent close to £400m for both the stars.

While PSG acquired the services of Neymar from Barcelona, Kylian Mbappe joined the club from fellow French side, Monaco.

It might be a possibility that PSG could be forced to sell their players if they are found guilty of breaching the FFP rules. Real Madrid are preparing to take the opportunity, as both the players were heavily linked with the club during the summer transfer window.

Neymar has been a long-term target for Florentino Perez, while Kylian Mbappe raised his stature after impressive performances for France in the World Cup.

What next?

It has also been reported that Barcelona turned down a chance to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer. Spanish media outlet La Porteria has reported that Mbappe wanted to play with Lionel Messi, but Barcelona refused to make a bid for the player.
