Former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar and current England all-rounder Ben Stokes were recently taking in a Twitter banter where the former’s comments about the English team didn’t seem to go well with the latter.
Most recently, England defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 in their own backyard to register a historic whitewash. England wicket-keeper batsman Ben Foakes, who made his debut in the first Test at Galle, ended up as the top-scorer in the series, amassing 277 runs at an average of 69.25 and a strike rate of 56.30.
While Sri Lanka’s Dilruwan Perera was the highest wicket-taker in the series, it was England’s spin trio of Jack Leach, Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid, who took 48 wickets among them in the series.
The 53-year old former cricketer was of the opinion that Stokes is being credited more than the the trio of Foakes, Ali and Leach for the series win. Since it didn’t go well with him, here’s how he expressed his views on social media platform Twitter:
So you have these hardworking chefs who have made a great dish. Someone comes and puts a little garnish on top and he gets all the credit. Moeen, Leach, Foakes are those poor chefs and Stokes the one with the garnish.

When someone else pointed it out to Stokes, he didn’t shy away from dropping a reaction. Read Stokes’ tweet below:
We don’t care about personal credit, and garnish is pointless on all food anyways,we care about winning,it’s a team sport and we won as a team #3-0 Cheers Sanjay 💤 https://t.co/4oVhPVm1d5

Most wickets taken by spinners in a 3 test series ever, and he thinks you are getting the credit?

Not sure how you’ve stolen the credit exactly? Didn’t Foakes get man of the series?

Sanjoy is like the little kid who tries to hang out with the popular group, and ends up making a fool of himself trying to act cool. One of that most biased commentators, however every commentators of recent lot are more or less biased but his words & comments just bleed my ears.
