Suarez-Pique fight: Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique were involved in a confrontation after the fulltime whistle against Real Betis.

Barcelona suffered a shock 4-3 defeat to Real Betis in the La Liga yesterday. Ernesto Valverde’s side, however, maintains their place at the top of the table, as they’re still a point ahead of Sevilla.

The clash between Barcelona and Real Betis ended in dramatic fashion with both teams scoring late goals in the game. However, Quique Setién’s side had the last laugh as a brace of Messi wasn’t enough to seal the victory for Barcelona.

As the Catalan side succumbed to defeat, Barcelona stars Gerard Pique and Luis Suarez failed to hold their temper on the pitch. The duo was involved in a confrontation after the full-time whistle, even though the issue was resolved soon.

The confrontation took place because of a moment on the pitch in the ending moments of the game.

Suarez-Pique confrontation:

Luis Suarez was involved in a confrontation with Gerard Pique after the end of the game. According to Spanish outlet Sport, the reason behind the confrontation was a misplaced pass.

At the full time whistle, Luis Suarez came to Pique and reminded him about the time he lost possession of the ball, and the defender didn’t hold it back.

It was at this moment when Pique said, “Now you’re going to f*** me for a pass, do not f*** with me.”

It wasn’t the first time when Pique was involved in a confrontation with a fellow teammate in the match against Real Betis. A few minutes earlier, Pique had an argument with Arturo Vidal about a moment in the game where he took the ball from Chilean midfielder in a bid to score the goal.

“If you say ‘mine’ it’s ok, but I [swear] to my life, I didn’t hear it,” Pique reportedly told Vidal to clear the misunderstanding.

What next?

Even as Barcelona lost the game, they’re at the top of the table. However, Santiago Solari’s Real Madrid have now closed the gap between both the sides to four points after they secured an emphatic 4-2 victory over Celta Vigo.

Real Madrid are now 6th in the league.
