T20 Cricket World Cup 2020 schedule, fixtures and venues: TSR presents all the vital details of the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia

After the action-packed 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup’s completion a week ago, World Cricket’s apex body ICC has come up with its next multi-nation tournament assignment- the T20 Cricket World Cup in the year 2020.

The next edition of the T20 World Cup is set to take place from October 18- November 15 2020 in Australia, with a total of 12 teams battling it out for the ultimate title. The tournament will commence with the sets of Qualifier matches before the Hosts Australia take on Pakistan in the main Tournament opener on October 24.

The previous edition of the T20 World Cup was won by the West Indies, when the World saw the ‘Carlos Brathwaite special’ against the 2019 World Cup champions England in the finals at The Eden Gardens.

The 12 teams will be divided into two groups each. Top 8 teams (as on December 31, 2018) viz. Pakistan, India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Afghanistan, and West Indies have earned direct qualification into the tournament.

T20 Cricket World Cup 2020 qualifier fixtures

With Top 8 teams granted automatic qualification in the main draw, the remaining four spots will be decided after a total of eight teams (including Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) will battle it out to make it through to the Super 12 stage.

Sri Lanka and three qualifiers compete in Group A and Bangladesh with three qualifiers compete in Group B would compete for a place in the Super 12s. The Super 12 stage of the tournament gets underway on October 24.

India and Pakistan are placed in separate groups as they were ranked 2 and 1 respectively as on December 31, 2018 as per the ICC T20I ratings.
