Gianluigi Buffon
The Italian legend played in his last ever European championship game after Italy were knocked out after one of the most comical penalty shootout of all time. Buffon was near perfect during the entire game, keeping out all German attempts.
Italy lost out because according to the rules, we need a winner. Buffon is an absolute legend of Football, one who will be missed at future European Championships.
Mats Hummels
The newly signed Bayern Munich man is probably the best centre half in the world right now. Hummels was rock solid against Italy , he covered really well for Hector and Howdens in a makeshift back 3 selected by Joachim Loew.
He will be a big miss in the semifinals for Germany after being suspended for picking up two yellow cards in the tournament.
Ashley Williams
The Swansea City defender led by example and put in a fantastic performance against Belgium. He equalized for his side with a brilliant header just before half time.
He was rock solid in the second half as he kept the like of Romelu Lukaku , Eden Hazard , and Kevin De Bruyne quiet. Truly a Captain’s performance , one when Wales needed him most.
Leonardo Bonucci
The Juventus defender was at par with almost all of Germany’s attacks. The game was pretty even as both defences cancelled each other out in 120 minutes.
Bonucci scored the first ever penalty of his International career against Manuel Neuer to get his country level. He was really unfortunate to have missed one the shootout.
Dimitri Payet
Dimitri Payet has been one of the star performers of Euro 2016. He continued his good form against Iceland as France won comfortably 5-2. He had a goal and an assist on the night and was a constant menace for the Icelandic defence.
Aaron Ramsey
Aaron Ramsey is looking like a changed man at the European Championships. The arsenal man was superb against Belgium and assisted 2 of Wales’s 3 goals. He will be a really big miss for Chris Coleman in the Semi Finals.
Mesut Ozil
Ozil controlled the German midfield and created several chances for his teammates. His goal was really well taken and one which he deserved.
Renato Sanches
The 18 year old has shown flashes of Genius . At the tender age of 18 he can play as a attacking midfielder and a winger. He equalized brilliantly against Poland and kept his cool to convert in the penalties.
Antoine Griezmann
Antoine Griezmann’s superb form continued after he scored a brilliant chip for his fourth goal of the tournament, making him the top scorer in the tournament. He also assisted France’s second goal , delivering a pinpoint ball for Pogba to head in.
Hal Robson-Kanu
Robson Kanu was the only Welsh Player without a club coming into the championships. He scored a brilliant goal , one which would have made the late Johan Cruyff proud which may quite possibly go down as the goal of the tournament.
Olivier Giroud
Giroud was voted Man of the Match in a performance which was full of French excellence. The Arsenal man scored twice and was a constant threat every time the ball came to him
