It was just written in the stars wasn’t it. Kohli’s record was against him, the conditions were against him, his teammate’s batting application was against him and he still managed to defy all the odds.

Well, isn’t that what makes Kohli the greatest batsman of our generation?
With a square drive that pierced the field to perfection, Virat Kohli brought up his 22nd ODI hundred and his first ODI hundred in England.
It was an innings that needed grit, supreme skill and a bit of luck. And Kohli had all of it.
He nicked a few, he got dropped a couple of times, but his focus and determination never went away.
The man had come to England with a mission and he has taken his first step towards accomplishing it.
Twitter went bonkers for the Indian captain, saluting him for an innings of immense brilliance.

Virat Kohli’s knock today is something akin to Sunny Gavaskar’s 101 at Old Trafford in June 1974. All about guts and grit against some hostile bowling in adverse conditions!#ENGvIND #INDvENG

In Tests since 2016:
Kohli – 11 centuries, 4 fifties
Root – 5 centuries, 24 fifties #EngvInd— Bharath Seervi (@SeerviBharath) August 2, 2018
Time and again Kohli’s showing the side of his batting that’ll put him in the pantheon of all time greats across formats….self belief and the will to fight is unmatched. If others play well around him, he’ll finish this tour with two…if not three tons. #EngvInd
