Royal Challengers Bangalore ensure their chances to stay in the race for play-offs, as they beat Kings XI Punjab.
Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore have contrasting fates in this IPL. While KXIP are fading after a strong start in IPL, RCB seem to slowly build the mileage as the the tournament goes to business end.

In a must-win game for them, Royal Challengers Bangalore came on top as they beat Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets. Contrary to expectations, the game at Indore was a low-scoring one this evening. Kings XI Punjab were bowled out on a mere 89, days after the same pitch played host to a 400-run fiesta.
RCB won the toss earlier this evening and Kohli decided to bowl. KXIP started slowly, and eventually gave in to the mounting pressure for scoring runs at pace. Both the openers, KL Rahul and Chris Gayle, were dismissed while trying to send the ball over the boundary.
Things only went downhill for Kings XI after the initial two wickets. Poor shot selections, complimented by lack of awareness on the pitch led to team getting bowled out for 88. There were three run-outs in the innings, while Umesh Yadav shined with the ball, taking three wickets.
Virat Kohli and Parthiv Patel opened the innings for RCB, and it almost seemed like they are playing on a different pitch. KXIP looked mentally lost, as Kohli and Patel whipped the bowl all over the park.
Here are some Twitter reactions from the game.
Can @YUVSTRONG12 do any worse? He will bat better than the way @lionsdenkxip is batting the last few games. Half the innings done and it seems an @RCBTweets night already.

Remember when things were just going fine for KXIP and then they decided to experiment with their batting order against Rajasthan Royals for no reason…. been all downhill since then. #IPL2018 #KXIPvRCB

So why isn’t Miller getting a game? #justaskingforafriend

I mean, Leg spinner to a left hander. Middle overs, Miller is taking that on.
But I guess at this level everyone should be able to play leggies…— Dale Steyn (@DaleSteyn62) May 14, 2018

Punjab’s performance so far tonite has been without tadka. Where had the earlier elan vanished?
— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) May 14, 2018
Looking at the way they have been batting, what was the harm in playing @YUVSTRONG12 ? Punjab has become just a 2-batsmen team now #KXIPvRCB

One Congress ruled state is beating the other. Ultimately Congress is the winner. #KXIPvRCB

Mayank Agarwal has been a huge let down for KXIP, he had the best of times in domestic cricket. One presumes him batting out of position has not helped but you have to take your chances to get ahead. Look at Sky, Rayudu. That’s how you stand out

in the strategic timeout #KXIP will have to strategise how to avoid the owners on the way out tonight #KXIPvRCB
