BCCI has given Indian cricket fans a massive shock by announcing MS Dhoni’s exclusion from India’s T20I squad for West Indies and Australia series.

Dhoni hasn’t been in the best of forms with the bat for quite sometime now and has finally been axed from the team, much to the surprise of Indian fans all around.
While the selectors had confirmed that Dhoni will be India’s first choice wicketkeeper going into the 2019 World Cup, they have now gone onto make a bold statement by dropping him, indicating that the former Indian captain will need to step up his game, else could lose his place in the 50 over format as well.
MSK Prasad, the chief BCCI selector has confirmed that Dhoni has been left out of the 6 T20Is in order to allow the Indian team management to test out the second string of wicketkeepers in the limited overs format.
“Dhoni’s not going to play the 6 T20Is because we’re looking at the second keeper slot. It is not the end of Dhoni in T20Is. M Vijay had been dropped from England, but he went back to counties and performed and showed his intent.” MSK Prasad said.
Rishab Pant has been presented with a glorious opportunity to impress the selectors and maybe cement his place in India’s limited overs team, especially with the 2019 World Cup coming up.
Social media went crazy after the announcement, with many Dhoni fans baffled with the team selection, while others acknowledging how bold the selection committee has been with this call.

The big news is obviously the absence of MS Dhoni from the T20 squad. The next World T20 isn't till 2020 so this is an acknowledgement that someone else will be behind the stumps there.

My only concern with Dhoni is that he isn't getting, or maybe isn't too keen to get, game time between ODI matches. But he will have the Australia/NZ and home ODIs + the IPL before the World Cup.

Even the Indian T20i team for #AusvInd announced. 17 members. Big NEWS is that Dhoni is NOT in that team too. Might not see Dhoni in India colours for the T20 format again… #AusvInd

Dhoni’s absence from T20 teams v West Indies and Australia sends clear message that selectors have been informed about where his focus is and when he wants his international career to end https://t.co/vTBq8fXmAt

16 member squad for the three T20i #IndvWI series. No Kohli. No Dhoni.
Iyer, Sundar, Khaleel, Krunal and Nadeem IN.
Already wondering how many will actually get a proper chance…3 out of the 5 new selections probably won’t.— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash) October 26, 2018
Dropped MSDhoni but still believe he is not finished yet…
I think he will make big runs in Next 3 ODIs for sure…
Never seen throughout his career that MS Dhoni dropped…The Lion will arise and will roar#AUSvIND #INDvAUS #INDvWI #MSDhoni #RohitSharma #ViratKohli pic.twitter.com/yKxx5E1X5P

Dhoni has the second best strike rate and he is third highest scorer in the last two years in T20s. If BCCI can’t drop dhoni in ODIs after having a poor 2018 with the bat then no way they will drop him in T20s. It’s his personal decision. Retirement must be around the corner.
