Twitter reactions for Virat Kohli’s 23rd Test Hundred show that he is probably the greatest batsman of this generation.

For yet another time in the test series at England, Virat Kohli showed India how it’s done as he removed his helmet and celebrated a glorious century at Trent Bridge, Nottingham in the second innings.
As India gain a lead above 450 runs, there is a strong pressure over the hosts and the first innings collapse is something that they would need to keep out of their minds.
Skipper Kohli began day 3 innings with India at 124/2 with himslelf batting at 8 alongside Pujara who was at 33.
The way the captain architected his innings wasn’t in the most pure way as one would expect him to or one that can be compared to his innings in Birmingham. There were leading edges on more than a couple of occasions which actually rewarded him with boundary behind the wicket, one coming off Woakes and the other off Broad.
In the 50th over came yet another anxious situation wherein a fullish inswinger in from Stuart Broad hit his pads to which the English forced review. Ultraedge though showed the tiniest of inside edge and Kohli survived to the relief of the Indian dugout.
It was then time to for some patient and precision to be put on show as the 29-year old left when he felt he had to anmd stroked it when it needed to be. In his century, the skipper got 10 boundaries, some really proper cricketing shots hit and targetting Stokes, Broad and Woakes whereas hitting one off Anderson, edged right past the legs of the gully man. The Delhi boy got his hundred by hitting a four off Woakes.
Anderson has been left frustrated as the main man hasn’t mustered a wicket yet in this innings and has been very precisely dealt with by the Indian batsmen.
Kohli’s 100 now means an almost impossible win scenario for the English in the Nottingham test with the fourth innings average score at this ground being 157.
No 23 for Kohli. Hard fought, well crafted, master of all formats. Loved his application. 2014 is buried.

We have all gotten so used to Virat Kohli scoring 100’s. Have a feeling he will cherish this one a lot once we win this Test match.

Among all captains with 10+ Test hundreds, only one – Don Bradman – has a better rate of scoring hundreds than Virat Kohli. Bradman scored a hundred every 2.71 innings as captain, Virat every 3.93 innings!#ENGvIND

Hunger & Discipline. That’s what separates him from the rest. Kohli’s indeed the best batsman on the planet across three formats… #23 #ModernMaster

Virat Kohli has now played 47 false shots against James Anderson without being dismissed. Typically, 14 false shots leads to a dismissal. #ENGvIND

The exceptional rate of conversion continues. Makes a statement like a boss. Kohli scored 692 in the 4 tests in Australia in 2014. And looks like he will score in excess of that in the 5 tests here. What a turnaround after the difficult 2014 here. Stuff of champions.

I don’t think anyone should have any doubt in their minds, that Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world right now. #ENGvIND

Before this series, few friends on my timeline who were claiming that out of the current fabulous four, Kohli is the weakest. They rated Williamson & Root, let alone Steve Smith, ahead of him in Tests. All ths drivel on basis of failure in just ONE series. What’s their alibi now? https://t.co/2l0AHIDgC9
