Twitter reactions on Ajinkya Rahane's 11th Test century vs South Africa in Ranchi

Twitter reactions on Ajinkya Rahane’s 11th Test century: Twitter was exhilarated at watching the Indian deputy among the runs.

During the second day of the third Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Ranchi, India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane scored his 11th Test century to not just play the rescue act but also put India in a strong position.

Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 16th over yesterday, Rahane is in the middle of a potentially match-winning partnership for the fourth wicket alongside opening batsman Rohit Sharma.

Despite India losing three early wickets after captain Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat, it was Rahane who commenced the counter-attack against the South African attack. While Sharma had just started to find his feet against the opposition bowlers, Rahane took on the challenge as he scored three boundaries off South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada’s first over after lunch.

Having again hit Rabada for two fours in the same over, Rahane had made his intentions clear against the opposition’s best bowler. Rahane batting at a better strike rate than Sharma for a significant period spoke highly about his innings yesterday.

It was on the third delivery of the 39th over that Rahane ran a single off South Africa spinner Dane Piedt to complete his half-century. Resuming on 83* today, Rahane ran a single off Anrich Nortje in the 69th over to reach the three-figure mark for the first time at home since 2016.
