Twitter reactions on Australia-India Brisbane T20I

Twitter reactions on Australia-India Brisbane T20I: Twitter was exhilarated on the tightly-fought match played between the two teams.

During the first T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Brisbane, Australia beat India by four runs (DLS Method) in a tightly-fought encounter. In a match that wasn’t over until it was over, Australians managed to do the right things at the time to register a much-needed victory at this level.

After being put in to bat by India captain Virat Kohli, Australia were looking set to post a total in vicinity of 200. However, rain played the spoilsport, reducing the match to 17 overs. Post the rain-break, Australia batted for only five deliveries, scoring 158-4 in their allotted quota.

Post a slow start, Chris Lynn pressed the accelerator for his team, scoring 37 (20) with the help of a four and four sixes. Post Lynn got out, it was a 78-run partnership between  the all-rounder-duo of Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis for the fourth wicket.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the ninth over, Maxwell top-scored for the hosts, scoring 46 (24) with the help of four sixes. With bowling figures of 4-0-24-2, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers.

India were required to chase 174 runs in 17 overs. On the back of Shikhar Dhawan’s ninth T20I half-century, the Indian hopes remained alive for the first part of their chase. That being said, with them losing three quick wickets, things seemed to change for them.

Dinesh Karthik (30), who came in to bat at No. 6, almost turned the tables for the visitors during the business end of the match. Having said that, Stoinis successfully defended 13 runs in the last over as India ended up scoring 169-7 in 17 overs. For India, Dhawan was their highest run-scorer, scoring 76 (42) with the help of 10 fours and two sixes.

With bowling figures of 4-0-22-2, Adam Zampa was the pick of the Australian bowlers and was adjourned as the ‘Man of the Match’.
