Twitter reactions on Gautam Gambhir’s farewell century: Twitter was exhilarated on veteran India batsman’s century in his last match.

Gautam Gambhir, who announced retirement from all formats of the game a few days ago, scored his 43rd First-class century in his farewell match against Andhra at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi.

Playing for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy, Gambhir shared a 108-run partnership for the first wicket with opening batsman Hiten Dalal and 113-run partnership with captain Dhruv Shorey.

After Delhi put Andhra in to bat, the visitors scored 390-10 in 121 overs on the back of Ricky Bhui’s 187 (270), which included 24 fours and a six. With bowling figures of 27-8-48-5, Subodh Bhati was the pick of Delhi bowlers.

Gambhir, who ended up scoring 112 (185) with the help of 10 fours, played an instrumentl role in his team reducing to deficit to under 100 now. With Dhorey and Vaibhav Rawal in the middle, one expects to Delhi at take the first innings lead.

Into their fourth match, Delhi is yet to register a victory in the tournament. Currently, they are reeling at No. 7 in the points table, only above Andhra and Himachal Pradesh.

As a matter of respect, Andhra team was seen giving a guard of honour to Gambhir yesterday. Among the other incident of his retirement match was when a man ran in the middle of the ground to click a photo with the veteran batsman.

Having resigned from Delhi’s captaincy in a bid to groom a young leader, Gambhir’s retirement came as a surprise for his plethora of fans.
