Twitter reactions on India beating South Africa to gain unassailable lead in Pune

Twitter reactions on India beating South Africa: Twitter was exhilarated after the Indian team registered a victory in Pune.

During the fourth day of the second Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Pune, India beat South Africa by an innings and 137 runs to gain an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

After India captain Virat Kohli decided to enforce the follow-on in the morning, the Indian bowlers made sure that they finished the match on the fourth day itself.

India bundled out South Africa for 189 in 67.2 overs in the second innings to register their 11th consecutive series win at home. Having scored 48 (72) with the help of eight fours, South Africa opening batsman Dean Elgar was the pick of the batsman for the visitors today.

The Proteas’ innings was another instance of their top-order crumbling down under pressure. With half the side back in the pavilion at the score of 79, saving the Test was always going to be a daunting task for the remaining batsmen.

Fast bowler Vernon Philander (37) and spinner Keshav Maharaj (22) did stitch a 56-run stand for the eighth wicket but it did no good to the outcome of the match.

With bowling figures of 8-3-22-3, fast bowler Umesh Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers. Among the other bowlers, the spinner-duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin also picked up three and two wickets each.
