Twitter reactions on India’s 2-1 series win vs Australia: Twitter was elated as India registered a first-ever series victory in Australia.

During the fifth day of the fourth Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Sydney, rain played the spoilsport as no play was possible for a larger part of the day, leading to the match being called-off due to inclement weather.

The result meant that India, who were leading 2-1 in the series, registered their first-ever Test series win in Australia. The fact that India have won only a handful of Test matches in Australia speaks highly about the achievement.

Given the importance of playing and winning a Test series in Australia, the names involved in the current Indian team will be etched in history for this moment has come after playing in Australia for the last 70 years.

Talking of the match, India had scored a formidable 622-7 in 167.2 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat. Individual centuries from Cheteshwar Pujara (193) and Rishabh Pant (159*) had scripted India’s dominance in the first innings.

Despite rain also affecting the game on the fourth day, the Indian bowlers were determined enough to bundle out the opposition for 300 in 104.5 overs. Kuldeep Yadav, who played his first Test in the series, ended up picking his second five-wicket haul with bowling figures of 31.5-6-99-5.
