Twitter reactions on India's win against West Indies

Twitter reactions on India’s win against West Indies: Twitter was exhilarated after India wrapped-up the first Test in under three days.

During the third day of the first Test of the ongoing series between India and West Indies at Rajkot, India registered their biggest Test win as they defeated the opposition by an innings and 272 runs. India broke their previous record of defeating Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs, a match which had been played nearly four months ago.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, India had registered a monumental 649-9 dec. in 149.5 overs. Individual centuries from debutant Prithvi Shaw (134), captain Virat Kohli (139) and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (100*) had helped their case.

Forget about scoring the runs, West Indies couldn’t even match the number of over played by them across two innings for they were bundled out in 48 and 50.5 overs in their first and second innings respectively.

Barring Roston Chase, who scored 53 (79) with the help of eight fours in the first innings, and Kieran Powell, who scored 83 (93) with the help of eight fours and four sixes in the second innings, none of the West Indies batsman could cross the 50-run mark across their two Test innings.

For India, with bowling figures of 11-2-37-4, Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers in the first innings.

Kuldeep Yadav (10-1-62-1), who gave runs at an economy rate of 6.2 in the first innings, came back from behind to bag his maiden five-fer in Test cricket. With bowling figures of 14-2-57-5, Yadav became one of the few bowlers to have picked a five-wicket haul in all formats of the game.

Jadeja contributed with figures of 12.5-1-35-3 to wrap up the West Indian innings and pushing a case for him to earn the ‘Man of the Match’ award for his all-round brilliance. But the award was given to the 18-year old Shaw for scoring a century in his debut match.

India’s dominating victory invited numerous reactions on social media platform Twitter. Most of the reactions were regarding West Indies’ poor show than India’s record-breaking victory. Read some of them below:
