Twitter reactions on Kohli-Rahane partnership

Twitter reactions on Kohli-Rahane partnership: Twitter admired the way Indian batsmen batted on the second day of Perth Test.

During the second day of the second Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Perth, India captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane stitched an unbeaten 90-run partnership for the fourth wicket as India walked in to stumps at 172-3 in 69 overs.

After bowling out the hosts on 326 in 108.3 overs, India lost two quick wickets in the form of their opening batsmen. Kohli, who came in to bat at 8-2, eased out nerves first up by hitting four fours off Josh Hazlewood.

Having shown positive intent at the start, Kohli made sure that he stepped down the accelerator for it was also necessary considering the quality of bowling which the Australian bowlers had put on display.

Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara removed the shine off the ball, batting together for a 74-run partnership. Pujara might have been dismissed on 24, but he played a vital role in laying down a foundation for the others to follow.

Rahane, who came in to bat in the 39th over, gave the impression of going at everything initially. From hitting a six over third-man to under-edging a few deliveries, Rahane seemed to be in a hurry at the start. However, he made sure that he doesn’t get out, eventually playing like the Rahane people know.

Both Kohli and Rahane gave signs of seeing off the day during the last overs. Despite that, the duo played some exquisite shots off the front foot.

At stumps, Kohli was playing on 82* (181) with the help of nine fours. Whereas, Rahane was playing on 51* (103) with the help of six fours and a six.

Still 154 runs behind, India would be hoping for this duo to decrease as much as the trail as possible. With only Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant as the specialist batsmen left, India won’t be relying on their tail.
