Twitter reactions on Mayank Agarwal's maiden double century vs South Africa in Visakhapatnam

Twitter reactions on Mayank Agarwal’s maiden double century: Twitter celebrated the Indian opening batsman’s maiden century.

During the second day of the first Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Visakhapatnam, India opening batsman Mayank Agarwal scored his maiden Test century to further solidify his position at the top of the order.

Having made his Test debut against Australia during the Boxing day Test last year, Agarwal had done well in both Tests against Australia. In the four innings against West Indies, Agarwal had failed thrice. However, him following it up with this gigantic knock has come as a great response.

Much like Sharma, Agarwal also respected the opposition’s new-ball bowling attack comprising of Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada. Once South Africa captain Faf du Plessis introduced spinners into the attack, Agarwal eased himself to make his way to the three-figure mark.

It was on the fourth delivery of the 47th over that Agarwal hit a six off South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj to bring up his half-century. On the second delivery of the 69th over, Agarwal ran a single off Maharaj to bring up his century.

The right-hand batsman was seen pressing the accelerator after crossing the three-figure mark. Sharma’s departure in the 82nd over made Agarwal play the senior role despite all the incoming batsmen being way more experienced than him.

Continuing to score in a brisk manner, Agarwal scored a boundary off Kagiso Rabada in the 97th over to surpass the 150-run mark. It was eventually on the first delivery of the 116th over that Agarwal ran a couple of runs off Maharaj to score a double century.
