Twitter reactions on MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav

Twitter reactions on MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav: Twitter was elated as the two batsmen sealed the chase for India.

During the first ODI of the ongoing Australia’s tour of India at Hyderabad, India defeated Australia by six wickets to go 1-0 up in the five match series. The match another quintessential episode of former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni anchoring a run-chase.

Apart from Dhoni, the other name which should be credited is all-rounder Kedar Jadhav. Coming in to bat at No. 6 in the 24th over, Jadhav joined Dhoni at a time when India were lacking behind in the run-chase.

Having shared a match-winning 121-run partnership in the third ODI against Australia at Melbourne earlier this year, the pair didn’t let the 9,250 km in between the two venues affect their record. Dhoni and Jadhav stitched a 141-run partnership to seal the chase for India tonight.

While India were expected to chase a 237-run target with ease, the pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium played the spoilsport. Vice-captain Rohit Sharma (37) and captain Virat Kohli (44) had provided a rescue act after opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan (0) was dismissed on the first ball. However, being reduced from 80-1 to 99-4 didn’t augur well for the hosts.

Dhoni and Jadhav took their time on a difficult wicket initially. While the latter outscored Dhoni, the chase was undoubtedly inspired from the Dhoni School of Run-chases as it was sealed in the penultimate over.

Registering his 71st ODI half-century, Dhoni ended up scoring 59* (72) the help of six fours and a six. On the other hand, Jadhav scored his fifth half-century, 81* (87), with the help of nine fours and a six.

Earlier, Australia captain Aaron Finch had won the toss and chose to bat. On the back of opening batsman Usman Khawaja’s fifth half-century and contributions from the middle-order, Australia posted a below par 236-7 in their allotted quota of 50 overs.

Before getting out to India chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav, Khawaja had scored 50 (76) with the help of five fours and a six. While there were a lot of starts from the visiting batsmen, none of them ended up playing a formidable innings.

The Indian victory enticed numerous appreciating reactions on social media platform Twitter. Read some of them below:
