Twitter reactions on Rishabh Pant's quickfire half-century

Twitter reactions on Rishabh Pant’s quickfire half-century: Fans on Twitter were gleeful after Rishabh Pant scored a half-century against West Indies.

During the second day of the first Test between India and West Indies at Rajkot, wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant scored a quickfire half-century to start the second day on an affirmative note for his team.

Pant, who turned 21 yesterday, had come out to bat at No. 6 in the 84th over yesterday. After remaining unbeaten on 17 (21), Pant took on the opposition bowlers today morning. He was his prototypical self from the first ball, not taking much time to settle down on a fresh day.

On the first ball which he faced today, Pant scored a sublime flick through the leg-side to make his intentions clear. After the scoring the odd-boundary in the next few overs, Pant scored a four and a six off consecutive balls against Keemo Paul to bring up his half-century.

Pant scored another four and six off Roston Chase in the next over and continued the trend in the next Devendra Bishoo over. At one point in time, it appeared as if he would overdo his captain Virat Kohli in terms of scoring a century.

However, Kohli completed his century before Pant, who eventually ended up without getting to his century. On the first delivery of the 109th over, in a bid to play a slog sweep over deep mid-wicket, Pant sliced a Bishoo googly to the short third-man fielder.

There is no hiding to the fact that Pant played a few loose shots during his innings. For a player who belts the bowling attack apart from the word go, you expect some loose shots being played. It was such a shot which ended his innings and denied him a chance to score consecutive centuries. But, such is the ramification for being a hard-hitting batsman.

Pant’s entertaining innings saw him receiving numerous reactions on social media platform Twitter. Read some of them below:
