During the 12th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between England and Bangladesh at Cardiff, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan registered his eighth ODI century in a lone fighting effort.
Having scored half-centuries in both Bangladesh’s previous matches, Shakib finally crossed the three-figure mark at Sophia Gardens. Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the fourth over, Shakib was at his quintessential best but lacked support from the other end.
Chasing a 387-run target, Shakib remained unperturbed with wickets falling at the other end and continued to stand tall against the English bowlers. On the third ball of the 19th over, Shakib ran single off Liam Plunkett to complete his half-century.

On top of his game against both spinners and fast bowlers, Shakib’s innings was full of both singles and doubles and boundaries to get things going for Bangladesh.
He eventually completed his century on the third ball of the 33rd over after running a single off Jofra Archer. Having scored a century off 95 balls, Shakib received aplenty applause from the spectators and his teammates.
At the time of writing this article, Bangladesh require 205 run to win 17 overs. In what is unequivocally a daunting task, Shakib and Mahmudullah would be trying their best to win the match for their team.
