Twitter reactions on Virat Kohli's 10,000 ODI runs

Twitter reactions on Virat Kohli’s 10,000 ODI runs: Twitter was exhilarated on the Indian captain’s record.

During the second ODI of the ongoing Windies’ tour of India at Visakhapatnam, Indian captain Virat Kohli became the fastest batsmen ever to score 10,000 ODI runs. Having started the series with 9,779 runs in 211 matches (203 innings) at a whopping average of 58.20 and a strike rate of 92.12, Kohli needed 221 runs to achieve the feat.

After scoring his 36th ODI century in the first match at Guwahati, Kohli was left with 81 runs to cross the barrier. Coming in to bat at 15-1 in the fourth over, he had enough time to complete the feat in this match.

Having scored his 49th half-century in the 25th over, Kohli continued in his usual form despite losing Ambati Rayudu (73) midway.

On the third delivery of the 37th over, with a single off Ashley Nurse to long-on, Kohli eventually achieved the feat with former captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the other end.

Kohli has achieved the feat in his 205th ODI innings. The record of the fastest to 10,000 runs was earlier with Sachin Tendulkar, who had completed it in 259 innings. The massive difference between the two speaks highly about Kohli and the way he has ruled ODI cricket in the last decade.

Kohli’s record had received instant admiring reactions on social media platform Twitter. Read some of them below:
