England met Panama in the second match of the World Cup 2018.
It was easy as it gets for England, as they eased their way into the round-of-16 with a 6-1 win over Panama. England and Belgium have secured their places in the next round, while Tunisia and Panama are out of the World Cup.
England were on top of their game with the very first minute, as John Stones gave them an early lead through a bullet header from the corner. England soon doubled their lead when Lingard was fouled inside the box, and Kane converted the penalty with a sweet shot to the top-left corner.
In the 36th minute, Lingard took a shot over the top corner from over 20 yards, and the goalkeeper had a little chance to stop the ball. By the end of half time, England added two more goals to the tally to make it 5-0.
The Three Lions continued their attacking display in the second half, and Harry Kane bagged an ‘accidental’ hattrick as the ball deflected off him when Loftus-Cheek attempted a long-range shot.
England, however, failed to keep a clean sheet as Panama grabbed one back, in what was a historic goal for the country. It was their first ever in a World Cup tournament. Panama’s oldest player, Felipe Baloy, scored through a set-piece in the 78th minute to make the scoreline 6-1.
Here are some tweets from the match:
This is getting silly. Last time England scored 4 or more goals in a World Cup was the 1966 WC final.

First time I can recall being chuffed with a goal scored against England. 37 year old Perez scores Panama’s first ever World Cup goal.

1 – Harry Kane’s form means he’s guaranteed to miss the first penalty during the shootout which knocks England out of the quarter finals. Jinx.

In less than 180 mins of football, Harry Kane has become England’s second highest ever World Cup goalscorer.

Look at Lingard’s run for the second. He must be a coach’s dream. He’s so, so good (the odd crap finish aside, even tho he scores stunners too). You’re a total berk if you can’t see it with him.

Does Mourinho get any credit for Lingard or nah.
