Luis Suarez hattrick in El Clasico

Luis Suarez hattrick in El Clasico: The Barcelona striker made an interesting remark before the game against Real Madrid.

It was a night to forget for the men in white, as their disastrous season in the post-Ronaldo era reached a new low at Camp Nou. Barcelona thumped Lopetegui’s side 5-1 on the night when a positive result for Real Madrid’s manager was extremely crucial to his job.

The speculations over Lopetegui had been consistently on the rise before the El Clasico. In the wake of a heavy defeat against Barcelona, Lopetegui was sacked by Real Madrid yesterday night. Santiago Solari has been appointed as provisional manager at the club.

For Barcelona, however, there couldn’t have been a better result. Valverde’s side had a shaky start to their league campaign, where they went winless for four matches before the recent international break. Barcelona lost Messi to an arm injury during the game against Valencia, but it seemed to have impacted little for the side.

Luis Suarez scored a hattrick, which made him the first Barcelona player not named Messi to score a hattrick against Real Madrid since 1994. However, a video has emerged after the game in which Suarez made interesting comments over his choice of goals.

Luis Suarez hattrick in El Clasico:

The Uruguayan featured in a video for FC Barcelona, where the interviewer asked him, “What would you rather prefer, a last-minute goal or a hattrick?”

Suarez replied, “hattrick,” before having a chuckle.

The video was shot three days before the El Clasico, and Suarez did indeed score three goals in an utter domination over Real Madrid at Nou Camp later in the week.

What next?

There were a lot of speculations over Barcelona’s probable dip in performance after Lionel Messi’s injury, but the Catalan side rose to the expectations of its fans. They registered convincing victories over Inter Milan and Real Madrid, and Valverde now aims to capitalize on their form as they play in the Copa Del Rey opener on Wednesday.
