A tame display by India throughout the test resulted in a huge victory for England to stretch their lead in the five match test series to 2-0. The hosts secured their win by an innings and 159 runs after bowling out the Men In Blue for 130 in the second innings.

After declaring their innings at 396-7, England were quick to skittle the Indian top order. James Anderson begun where he left the last innings by picking up Murali Vijay for a pair. The onslaught from the England bowlers continued throughout as the visitors failed to string a partnership.
Stuart Broad’s dream spell in the middle of the innings skittled the Indian middle order as no one crossed the 20-run mark. Wicket keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik’s disastrous tour continued as he was dismissed for yet another duck.
Stuart Broad and James Anderson were the pick of the bowlers with four wickets apiece, the 36 year old picked up 9 wickets in the test and was a constant threat throughout.
Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin yet again top scored for India, the off spinner stayed unbeaten on 33 off 48 deliveries.
The innings began on a sour note for India as Virat Kohli was struggling with a bad back which forced him to come at No.5. Moreover, Ravichandran Ashwin was victim to numerous blows on his fingers.

This is how Twitter reacted to the loss:
Very poor from India. While we all want to stand by our team and support them when they don’t do well, going down without a fight is very disappointing to watch. Hope they have the confidence and mental strength to comeback from this.

The loss at Lord’s is India’s first innings defeat under Virat Kohli’s captaincy. It comes in his 37th Test.
India’s last innings defeat was also in England, at The Oval in 2014. #EngvInd

Lack of fight has been the most disappointing aspect. This is really painful to watch. No batsman exudes any confidence. #ENGvIND

Kohli isn’t looking good. Missed playing county because of an injury. Seemed to have picked up a niggle here. Indian cricket’s most important asset needs to be protected. #EngvInd

R Ashwin (29 & 33*) is the first Indian batsman to top score in each inngs of a Test batting at #8 or below in both inngs.
Sixth to do so overall after Tup Scott, Lee Germon, Guy Whittal, Peter Siddle & Graeme Cremer. #ENGvIND— Deepu Narayanan (@deeputalks) August 12, 2018
Stokes missed this game. But was not missed at all. Woakes produced a Man of The Match performance. England’s all-round options are exceptional for these conditions…. #EngvInd
