During the first day of the third Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Melbourne, former Australia cricketer and current commentator Kerry O’Keefe is said to have criticized and insulted India’s First-class structure.
If reports are to be believed, it all happened during O’Keefe’s commentary stint alongside former Australia cricketers in Mark Waugh and Shane Warne.
According to fans, O’Keefe questioned debutant India opener Mayank Agarwal’s credentials in the domestic circuit by saying that his triple hundred came against a team named ‘Canteen XI’, which comprised of chefs and waiters.
Kerry O’Keefe said the Indian domestic system has teams like “Canteen XI” where the bowlers are Chefs and Waiters.
Was trying to undermine Mayank’s domestic record.
Mark Waugh also said “his average in India is 50 which is like 40 in Australia”

Talking about Agarwal’s First-class batting average (49.98), Mark Waugh was heard saying, “His average in India is 50 which is like 40 in Australia.”
With Agarwal topping the batting charts on the first day of the third Test, it was in itself a fitting reply to the Australian commentators who questioned both his potential and the Indian domestic setup.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, India ended up scoring 215-2 in 89 overs at Stumps – Day 1. With Cheteshwar Pujara (68) and Kohli (47) unbeaten at Stumps, India would be wanting to post a formidable total on the board in the first innings.

It might just be me, but it’s pretty uncool to ridicule the FC comp of another country while using dubious stereotypes for a cheap laugh…

Pretty sure this will be the last commentary stint for O’Keefe. Racism will not go unnoticed by officials. #AUSvIND

Exactly. Especially considering the fact that the Sheffield shield has not been able to produce a quality replacement for the marsh brothers in a long long time! If not for this trio of quicks, they’d be having none of this quality.

Well the Ranji Trophy is working, because we are no. 1 in test cricket.

Exactly. These guys have worked their butts off to get to this level. Really poor form to make fun of that.

Would be great if you could upload a clip of that.

Should apologise on air Mr. O’Keefe and Mr. Waugh

@FoxCricket commentary has been biased all series along. Especially @juniorwaugh349 who has ridiculed Pujaras batting, Indias lower order batsmen and today Mayanks first class accomplishment. He needs to sit on his couch at home instead commenting on global broadcast. #AUSvIND
