Twitter slams Rishabh Pant for playing rash shot in 3rd T20I vs Bangladesh

Twitter slams Rishabh Pant: Twitterati was unhappy with the Indian wicket-keeper batsman’s shot selection in Nagpur T20I.

During the third T20I of the ongoing Bangladesh’s tour of India in Nagpur, India wicket-keeper batsman ended up playing a rash shot to get out cheaply.

Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 13th over, it was an apt platform for the southpaw to dictate terms against the Bangladeshi attack. However, the 21-year old player looked out of touch once again. Not being able to generate any momentum whatsoever saw Pant walking back after scoring 6 (9).

It all happened on the first delivery of the 17th over when Pant’s attempt of slogging a slower delivery from Bangladesh all-rounder Soumya Sarkar saw him losing his shape and thus making no contact with the ball. With the ball pitched in line of the stumps, it ended up hitting the stumps.

Pant has been a much-discussed name in the cricketing fraternity in India of late. The discussions have mostly been due to the team management constantly backing him and him not repaying their faith.

While India captain Rohit Sharma had laid emphasis on leaving Pant alone recently, it won’t remain the case for someone who has played 22 T20Is now. Known for hitting big shots, Pant’s 358 T20I runs have come at an average of 19.88 and a strike rate of 118.15.

In the five T20Is that Pant has played in the ongoing home season, he has scored 56 runs at an average of 14 and a strike rate of 93.33.
