Rohit Sharma’s selection in the Indian playing XI for the first Test was heavily scrutinised, as him being drafted into the XI meant that Rahane had to be dropped, something that the majority of Indian fans and experts did not agree with.

And rightly so, because Rahane had the best overseas record amongst all current Indian Test batsmen.
On a seaming Cape Town wicket, where all Indian batsmen failed to apply themselves, Rohit Sharma could have been given some leeway with respect to his performance, While his technique and application did not look very inspiring, but you would have to give him the benefit of the doubt there, as those were simply conditions that were difficult for batting.
But on a pitch that was dry, and very similar to Indian conditions, fans had expected Rohit to string a huge partnership with his captain Kohli.
However, Rohit failed, and big time, unable to keep his head from falling over while shuffling towards the off-stump, and was ultimately adjudged LBW to Rabada.
Rohit’s yet another failure in overseas conditions sent Twitter into a frenzy, with fans all over the country calling for Rohit to be ousted from the Indian Test squad.
