Khabib Nurmagomedov is widely considered to be one of the best MMA fighters to have ever fought. However, he walked away from fighting and completely retired from competing after his bout against Justin Gaethje back in 2020.

His fighting career was highly impressive as he retired with an undefeated record of 29-0. Following his retirement, ‘The Eagle’ was focusing on coaching MMA. He even started his own MMA promotion, Eagle FC. However, it looks like he might be planning to step away from the sport completely.

Fans across all social media have reacted to the same. While fans would’ve definitely liked to see Khabib Nurmagomedov in the corner of his fighters, it looks like the Dagestani is actually receiving a lot of support for his decision.

Take a look at some of the fan reactions below:

That said, it remains to be seen whether the reports of him leaving all MMA are true or not.  Also, we can expect further clarity in the coming days.

Why did Khabib Nurmagomedov retire from fighting?

Nurmagomedov’s last fight was back in 2020 against Justin Gaethje. The Dagestani retained his UFC lightweight championship and announced his retirement from the sport in the post-fight interview.

Interestingly, Khabib Nurmagomedov made the decision because he didn’t want to fight in the absence of his father and coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov who passed away in July of that year. Moreover, it was later revealed that it was his mother’s wish that he retired from the sport following his father’s death.
