UFC 251 Undercard highlights Makwan Amirkhani chokes Danny Henry while 5 nut shots take place in 5 matches

UFC 251 Undercard highlights: UFC Fight Island is currently hosting its first ever event. However, the undercard proved to be brutal for the male fighters.

UFC 251, the event that everyone has been waiting for has finally arrived. The debut of fight island has been an anticipated event for quite some time now and the first match did not disappoint. Tasked with being the first fight in the history of “Fight Island” Davey Grant knocked Martin Day out cold with a monstrous left hook to begin UFC 251 in spectacular fashion.

The next match on the card was Karol Rosa taking on Vanessa Melo. A one-sided affair, Rosa dominated Melo all through the three rounds to win by unanimous decision. Their match was followed by Raulian Paiva taking on Zhalgas Zhamagulov in a match that also went to the judges.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”

While Zhumagulov threw arguably the best blow of the bout, Paiva was the more aggressive of the two. This is likely what led to the judges giving him the win. The talk of the match however, was the very aggressive front kick by Paiva into the neither regions of Zhumagulov.

Marcin Tybura vs Maxim Grishin is perhaps a match the audience and both the participants would like to forget. There was hardly anything of note about the match. The majority of the fight was either spent locked into a stalemate in the clinch, or with a great deal of space between the two. In the end, Tybura picked up his sixth win in the UFC via scores of 30-26, 30-27 and 30-27, although his performance wasn’t nearly as good as his scores.

From a forgettable match to an unforgettable one; albeit for all the wrong reasons, Leanardo Santos vs Roman Bogatov was a mess in every sense of the word. Bogatov landed a knee to Santos’ groin twice in the match and even hit an illegal knee to the head.

In the end, the match ended with Santos winning by unanimous decision through scores of 29-26, 29-26, 29-26. The win helps Santos maintain his unbeaten run in the UFC. He has now gone 8 straight fights without a loss.

A debut to remember!

Makhwan Amirkhani vs Danny Henry followed and Amirkhani proved why he is regarded as one of the most exciting featherweights in the world when he submitted Henry with an Anaconda choke just 3:15 into the match.

Amirkhani earned the praise of the fans after he sets Henry’s head down calmly and raised his opponent’s legs in an effort to get the blood back to his brain.

Muslim Salikhov vs Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos followed. It wasn’t as exciting as the match that preceded it. However, it was still a solid bout with Salikhov picking the win by split decision (30-27, 29-28, 28-29).

The final match on the undercard was Jiri Prochazka’s first fight in the UFC. The light heavyweight did not disappoint, picking up a knock-out win over Volkan Oezdemir at the 49-second mark of the second round. There’s no better way to make a first impression.

Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
