UFC 257 reportedly earned a whopping 1.6 million PPV buys. So, where does it stand in the list of all-time highest-grossing PPVs?
With Conor McGregor being a protagonist of its headliner fight, UFC 257 was a globally recognized Pay-Per-View, and was expected to rake-in huge numbers in terms of PPV buys. According to reports, the PPV proved to be a massive commercial success for UFC, and a total of 1.6 million buys are apparently recorded.
While much to the disappointment of many, the biggest attraction of the event-Conor McGregor-was downed by his opponent Dustin Poirier, however, the marquee event will still go down as one of McGregor’s accomplishments.
It is not a premise that, whenever McGregor gets lined up on the fight card, the event becomes a mega-show, moreover, this time the demand of the Irishman was so large that even the UAE govt took extra measures to bring the biggest UFC superstar to Abu Dhabi. According to the veteran journalist, Dave Meltzer, the UAE government paid UFC a hefty sum to book McGregor’s fight in Fight Island. (Source- Bloodyelbow)
So, McGregor might have lost on the night but his stardom still prevails. And on account of that, UFC UFC 257 broke many records.
